Privacy policy

This page explains what personal data this website processes, why, and what you can ask of us. The short version: no cookies, no tracking scripts, visitor statistics without personal profiles, and what you type into a form is used to answer you.

No cookies, no tracking scripts

This website sets no cookies and stores nothing in your browser’s local storage. It loads no tracking or advertising scripts, which is why there is no cookie banner. Our fonts are hosted on our own site, so opening a page sends no request to a font service.

How we measure traffic

We want to know which channels bring visitors to the site, without following anyone around. Our measurement is first-party, uses no cookies and runs on our server.

When you open a page, our Cloudflare Worker works out where the visit came from: a campaign link (such as /c/linkedin/…), utm parameters, an ad click ID, the website that referred you, or a direct visit. It then adds a short signed visit code to the links on the page, which you can see as the v parameter in the URL. That code contains only the traffic source and its type (for example search, social or referral), the campaign, the landing page, the time of the first page view, a random visit number and, when it replaces an older code, that code’s visit number. It holds no personal data and is not stored in your browser. A new one is issued after 24 hours, or when you arrive through a link that already carries a code from another website.

For each page view, the Worker sends the following to Pirsch Analytics (Emvi Software GmbH, Germany, hosted in the EU), which processes it on our behalf: the page URL, the referrer, your browser’s user agent and the browser hints that go with it (browser brand, platform, and whether the device is mobile), your language, your IP address, and the visit code’s source, source type, campaign and landing page. Pirsch uses the IP address only to compute a hash that changes every day and cannot be reversed, so a visitor is counted once per day, and to look up the country. It does not store the IP address. We only see aggregated statistics.

Legal basis: our legitimate interest in understanding which channels bring visitors, without using cookies.

We share no data with advertising platforms such as Google Ads or LinkedIn, and we sell no data. We no longer use Cloudflare Web Analytics.

When you fill in a form

This covers the contact form, the guide request forms (the AI notetakers guide and the local AI guide) and the forms on the domains we send email from. When you submit one, we receive:

• your email address, and your phone number and message if you give them
• which form you used
• the visit attribution described above: traffic source, campaign, landing page and time of your first visit
• the country Cloudflare derives from your request

We store this in our lead database (Supabase), and a notification goes to the founders’ private Telegram group. For the forms on machinegeist.ai, the submission is also reported to Pirsch as an event, with the name of the form and the traffic source and campaign, but without your email address or anything you typed.

The guide forms only accept work email addresses. When you request a guide, we email you the PDF through Postmark (ActiveCampaign LLC, United States). Transfers to the United States are covered by the EU-US Data Privacy Framework and standard contractual clauses.

AI Maturity Scan and booking a meeting

The AI Maturity Scan (/scan) is a form from Tally (Tally BV, Belgium), embedded in our page. What you enter there is processed under Tally’s terms, and your answers reach us so a founder can review your readout.

When you book a meeting, you do so on a Google Calendar appointment page, provided by Google.

Hosting

The website and our Worker run on Cloudflare’s network. Cloudflare processes IP addresses to deliver the site and to protect it against abuse.

How long we keep data

• Form submissions: as long as we need them to follow up with you, and no longer than 24 months after our last contact.
• Pirsch statistics: kept as aggregated, pseudonymous data for as long as our Pirsch account exists.

Your rights

You have the right to access your personal data, to have it corrected or erased, to restrict or object to its processing, and to receive it in a portable format. To exercise any of these rights, write to hello@machinegeist.ai and we will answer within one month.

You also have the right to lodge a complaint with the Belgian Data Protection Authority, Drukpersstraat 35, 1000 Brussels, www.dataprotectionauthority.be.

Changes to this policy

When the way this website handles personal data changes, we update this page and the date at the top.
